Flagellum: 1/3 of body length to body length
Swimming: rapid
Metaboly: considerable when stationary; limited when swimming
Pellicle: striations evident under high magnification
Chloroplasts: a single group of ribbon-like plastids arranged in a star-shaped pattern
Pyrenoids: at the center of the star
Eyespot: prominent
Paramylon: forming a paramylon center; granules cluster at the center of the star-like aggregate of chloroplasts
