THE DIGESTIVE, EXCRETORY AND REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEMS

Objectives

When you have finished today's lab, you should be able to:

• Identify sections of different organs of the digestive tract and state the basis for your identification.
• Relate function to cell type and tissue arrangement in the microscope slides of the digestive tract.
• Identify microscope sections of other organs you studied.
• Give the dental formula and probable diet of an animal based on its teeth
• Explain the processes of gamete formation in both males and females and identify the structures described in the lab manual.

Introduction

In today's lab you will study the digestive, excretory, and reproductive systems. In the first part of the lab you will examine the gross morphology of these organ systems in your fetal pig. In the second part of the lab, we will examine the microscopic structure of the digestive, reproductive and excretory systems. You should try to correlate the function of each organ you study with both its gross and microscopic structures.
